Consider vulnerable Nigerians before extending lockdown - Wabba tells FG

Nigeria Labour Congress has warned against extending the lockdown without providing necessary palliative supports for vulnerable Nigerians.
NLCpresident, Ayuba Wabba, said FG risks the wrath of Nigerians who depend on daily income to feed themselves and families
Wabba also tackled the federal government's Social Investment Programme, saying the programme has not yielded the desired results
Ayuba Wabba, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, has asked the federal government to retrace its step on lockdown extension because of the terrible effect it may have on already plight-hit Nigerians.
Speaking on Thursday, April 24, during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Wabba said some Nigerians depend on daily income to survive. He urged the government to put the pain of the masses on the consideration list.
The NLC president, though, admitted that Covid-19 pandemic posed a great challenge to the health and economy of the country, he argued that federal government must be "able to strike a balance at this point in time."
If we are going to extend, we must put in place palliatives that must reach the poor of the poor," Wabba argued
“If there are no conditions or precedents that have been set that people can also conform with, those pronouncements will be violated at the end of the day.
"We don’t want that to happen, therefore we gave a clear picture of what needs to be done.”
The NLC president also gave his critical assessment of the federal government's Social Investment Programme (SIP), saying the programme is yet to meet the yearning of Nigerians during the Covid-19 crisis.
